What is Power 250?

Power 250 is our movement to fund vital companionship for care home residents across the UK.

For £250 a year, you can give one older adult the chance to connect with a volunteer every week for an entire year. That’s 52 conversations, 52 moments of connection, and a whole year of feeling remembered, not forgotten.

You can support in the way that works best for you:

  • £4.80 pays for one weekly video call between a grandparent and their volunteer

  • £20 enables 1 lonely care home resident to receive 1 video call per week for 1 month

  • When £250 has been received (either a donation in full or in instalments), you will be recognised as a Power 250 Donor

What Your Support Enables

Every £250 donation powers:

- A full year of weekly, one-to-one video calls for a lonely care home resident

- Personalised, hand-matched pairings between volunteers and grandparents, based on interests, culture or language

- Secure calls through an AI-powered platform, ensuring safe, supported and emotionally rich experiences

- Volunteer training, safeguarding checks, and support throughout every step of the journey

Silent Epidemic

Loneliness is a silent epidemic in the UK’s care homes. Despite the dedication of care teams and the thoughtful activities they provide, emotional isolation still takes hold for many residents. In fact, research from the Campaign to End Loneliness shows that up to 60% of care home residents receive no visitors at all.

That means thousands of older people are spending their days without meaningful interaction, their stories untold, their voices unheard.
