A young woman with blonde hair styled in loose waves, smiling, wearing a dark pinstripe suit jacket over a light blue collared shirt, standing in front of a window with a blurred green landscape background.

Shae works as a private client paralegal at Irwin Mitchell and is from Crawley, England.

Her interests include theatre, sports, music, animals, food & travelling.

When asked why she wanted to support Adopt a Grandparent, Shae said: “I have so much respect for the older community and would love to give back all that they have given to our generation so that we can live freely in the world of today.

Somewhat selfishly, I find a sense of peace just sitting with elderly people. Catching up with friends can be a distraction as we get caught up in events, gossip and so on, whereas, when sitting with an elderly person, you’re almost guaranteed to learn something about the past you may never have known. And, with them having been through a long life, you can learn so much and apply it to your future. If anything, they would be doing us a service with their time.

I know first hand from grandparents and having previously worked in a shop with a high proportion of elderly visitors, that some people haven’t had a conversation in a long time, and simply wish to interact with another human – as we are all designed to do. Nobody should be robbed of that. And, I’d also like to make a new friend!”
