This is where Adopt a Grandparent comes in. Bridging generations. Ending loneliness. One video call at a time.

We are a UK charity tackling loneliness and social isolation among older people. We pair care home residents with volunteers of all ages, connecting them for regular, one-to-one, safe and secure video calls that bring joy, conversation and companionship.

More than 400 care homes across the UK registered for our support in 2025.

n the same year, Adopt a Grandparent gained national recognition, winning the Intergenerational Activity Award at the 2025 National Dementia Care Awards for its work to tackle loneliness and support the wellbeing of older people, including those living with dementia.

This progress is driven by the care homes, volunteers, sponsors and supporters who believe in what we do. Together, we are creating consistent one-to-one relationships that help older people feel heard, valued and remembered.

Our ambition is simple. Every older person who wants that companionship should have the chance to experience it.
