Principle Care Homes Chooses Adopt a Grandparent as Charity of the Year for 2026

Adopt a Grandparent is proud to announce that Principle Care Homes has chosen us as its Charity of the Year for 2026.

The partnership will see Principle Care Homes support our programme through fundraising and awareness raising across the year ahead, helping the charity continue its mission to tackle loneliness and create lasting intergenerational friendships for older people living in care homes.

David Annand, Head of Operations and Fundraising at Adopt a Grandparent, said:

“We are so pleased to have been chosen as Principle Care Homes’ Charity of the Year.

“Care teams across the country already do so much every single day to support residents to live well, feel engaged and enjoy meaningful experiences. Our role is to build on that by helping create additional one to one connections centred around shared interests and friendship.

“Partnerships like this allow us to reach more older people, train more volunteers and create moments of genuine connection that people look forward to week after week. We’re excited to work together throughout 2026.”

The announcement comes at a time of continued growth, with more care homes and volunteers joining our programme across the UK.

Adopt a Grandparent remains completely free for care homes, residents and volunteers to join, helping ensure more older people can access companionship and connection.

We look forward to working alongside Principle Care Homes over the coming year and celebrating the impact the partnership will help create.
