WANTED

We want grandparents.

Do you know an older person who you think would benefit from forming a bond of friendship, companionship or simply having a shared interest with someone?

With nearly 100,000 volunteers on our books, all with a diverse range of experiences and interests, we have an enormous depth of exciting and stimulating backgrounds to call upon.

But what we really need are the grandparents to pair them with.

And this is where you come in…

Perhaps you have a relative or a friend who you think would benefit? Or perhaps you work in a care home and interact with older people each day?

Whatever the circumstances, if you know of someone, we’d love to hear from you.

At present we need them to either reside in a care home, live in a retirement home or be in receipt of homecare or other care service.

But with nearly half a million care home residents in the UK, we know there are plenty of prospective grandparents out there. We just need them to come forward.

So, please, if you know someone who you think would benefit from companionship sign them up below. We’re on a mission to help end loneliness – and you can help us do that.

Our selection of volunteers below gives you an idea of some of the personalities just waiting to be paired.

And while they’re up for adoption – they’re not adoptees. They want grandparents to adopt. Help us find them.

“It's a nice thing to do, not only for yourself but also to be able to help someone tackle loneliness and make their week.”

- Clara, 24, Adopt a Grandparent volunteer who is paired with Audrey, 96

“There is so much to learn from the older generation, their wisdom and life experiences are a real inspiration to me.”

- Jenny, 32, Adopt a Grandparent volunteer who is paired with Gay, 90

And if you need further convincing on the benefits of intergenerational friendships, why not take a look at the adoption stories of some of our previously successful pairings?
